Terms of Service

1. Service Description

ReefDose ("App") is developed by LynxApps ("we," "us," "our") and provides professional reef aquarium management tools including parameter tracking, dosing calculations, task scheduling, analytics, livestock tracking, journal, timeline, expense tracker, and Home Screen widgets. The App uses local storage (SwiftData) and optional iCloud sync via CloudKit for cross-device synchronization.

2. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the App on Apple devices you own or control, subject to these Terms and Apple's App Store Terms of Service. You may not:

• Modify, adapt, or create derivative works
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Rent, lease, or lend the App to others
• Remove or alter copyright or proprietary notices
• Use the App for commercial purposes without permission

3. Subscription Terms & Pricing

ReefDose offers a free plan and three Pro subscription tiers:

Free Plan

• 1 active tank
• Unlimited parameter logging and task reminders
• Dosing calculator (1 product)
• 7-day trend charts
• Livestock tracking, journal, timeline, and achievements

Pro Plan Options

• Monthly: $2.99 USD per month (auto-renewing)
• Yearly: $29.99 USD per year (auto-renewing)
• Lifetime: $49.99 USD one-time purchase, no subscription, no renewal

Pro Plan Benefits

• Unlimited tanks and dosing products
• Full trend history (30d / 3mo / all time)
• Maintenance and equipment log
• iCloud sync across iPhone, iPad, and Mac
• Home Screen widgets
• CSV and PDF export
• Expense tracker

4. Subscription Management

• Subscriptions are managed through Apple's App Store
• All transactions are processed by Apple
• Auto-renewing subscriptions will renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the renewal date
• Refunds are governed by Apple's refund policy at reportaproblem.apple.com
• You can cancel anytime through Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions

5. Data Handling & iCloud Sync

Your tank data is stored locally on your device by default using SwiftData. When you enable iCloud sync (Pro feature), data is encrypted using CloudKit and synced to your private iCloud account. LynxApps does not have access to your tank data. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.

6. User Responsibilities

• Use the App only for legitimate, legal purposes related to reef aquarium hobby
• Do not attempt unauthorized access to or circumvention of the App's purchase enforcement
• Verify dosing calculations independently before applying to your tank
• Use the App as a tool to aid decision-making, not as the sole source of care guidance
• Keep your Apple ID secure if using iCloud sync

7. Disclaimers

The App is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:

• The App will be error-free or uninterrupted
• Dosing calculations will be accurate for all scenarios
• The App will function on all devices or iOS versions
• Analytics or trend predictions will be fully accurate

Important: ReefDose is a tool to assist in reef tank management. It is not a substitute for professional guidance or proper testing. You are responsible for the health and safety of your aquatic animals.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for subscriptions or in-app purchases in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $0 if you used only the free version. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, lost tank data, livestock loss, or business interruption.

9. Intellectual Property

The App, including all code, design, graphics, and features, is owned by LynxApps and protected by copyright. All rights are reserved. You retain all rights to tank data you create within the App. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, or use our branding without permission.

10. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access if you violate these Terms, at our discretion, or as required by law. Upon termination, you must stop using the App and delete it from your device.

11. Third-Party Services

The App uses Apple's CloudKit for iCloud sync, Apple App Store for subscriptions and billing, and Firebase (by Google) for anonymous usage analytics and crash reporting. These services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. The latest version will always be available at /reefdose/terms. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable law without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
