Frequently asked questions
How does Zakat Book calculate my Zakat?+
The App calculates your Zakat in three steps:
- Add all your zakatable assets: gold, silver, cash, investments, business assets, and receivables
- Enter any deductible debts — these are automatically subtracted
- The App compares your net wealth against the Nisab threshold and calculates 2.5% if the threshold is met
All calculations happen on your device using live gold and silver prices for the Nisab threshold.
What is Nisab and how is it calculated?+
Nisab is the minimum wealth threshold that makes Zakat obligatory. The App supports two standards:
- Gold standard: 85 grams of gold
- Silver standard: 595 grams of silver
The App fetches live gold and silver spot prices and updates the Nisab threshold automatically, so you always see the current value in your local context.
What is a Hawl and how does the App track it?+
A Hawl is the Islamic lunar year — Zakat becomes due when you have held wealth above Nisab for one complete lunar year. The App tracks your Hawl start date and sends reminders before it ends so you can calculate and pay your Zakat on time.
Is my financial data private?+
Completely private. All asset values, Zakat calculations, and payment records are stored only on your device. LynxApps has no access to your financial data. No account or registration is required. We only collect anonymous usage analytics and crash reports through Firebase to improve the App. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Can I track Zakat for multiple family members?+
Yes. The App supports multi-person tracking — add profiles for yourself and family members, each with their own asset list, Hawl, and Zakat calculation. All data stays on one device, under one app.

Are the Zakat calculations religiously authoritative?+
Zakat Book provides calculations for guidance and record-keeping purposes. The App implements standard Zakat methodology (2.5% on net zakatable wealth above Nisab held for one Hawl), but it does not constitute a religious ruling. For your specific situation, especially for complex assets or business wealth, please consult a qualified Islamic scholar or your local mosque.

- English
