Your camera feed never leaves your phone. UpRep processes every camera frame and body-pose measurement entirely on your device. Nothing is recorded, saved, or uploaded - not to us, not to anyone. Your alarms and progress live on your device and in your own private iCloud, never on our servers.
1. Data We Don't Collect
UpRep does not:
- Record, store, or transmit your camera feed or any images of you
- Send your body-pose or motion data anywhere - it is analysed on-device and discarded frame by frame
- Create or require an account with us
- Store your alarms, history, or progress on any server we control
- Sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing
2. Camera and Motion Processing
Rep counting is the core of UpRep, and it is built to be private:
- The camera is used only while an alarm's exercise challenge is active
- Each frame is analysed in real time on your device using Apple's Vision framework and on-device pose detection
- Frames are processed to detect a valid rep and then immediately discarded - no image, video, or pose data is ever saved or uploaded
- The only thing kept is the rep count and completion result, stored locally as part of your progress history
3. Data Stored on Your Device
All app data lives locally on your device:
- Wake-ups: Your alarm times, exercises, rep targets, routines, and repeat schedules
- Progress and history: Completed wake-ups, total reps, weekly activity, completion rate, and current and best streaks
- Settings: Difficulty preferences, onboarding and intro completion status, and notification preferences
4. iCloud Sync (Optional)
If you enable it, UpRep syncs your alarms, history, and progress across your devices using Apple's CloudKit and your own private iCloud account. This data is stored in your personal iCloud container, which we cannot access. Sync is a convenience layered on top of on-device storage - the app works fully offline without it. You control iCloud in your device's iCloud settings.
5. App Permissions
UpRep may request the following permissions:
- Camera (required): To count your reps during an exercise challenge. Frames are processed on-device and never uploaded. Without camera access, UpRep cannot verify reps.
- Notifications: Used together with alarms so a wake-up can reliably alert you. You control this in iOS Settings.
- App Tracking Transparency (ATT): Requested only if we serve ads to free-tier users. Declining means you may see less relevant ads; it does not affect any app functionality.
6. Advertising (Free Tier)
Free users see advertisements. Ad providers may use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to serve ads only if you grant ATT permission. Ads never have access to your camera feed or motion data. Premium subscribers see no ads. Any third-party ad provider's data use is governed by its own privacy policy.
7. Analytics and Diagnostics
To improve the app, UpRep may collect anonymous, aggregated analytics (for example, which exercises are used or how often the app is opened) and crash/diagnostic reports (device model, iOS version, and a stack trace). None of this includes your camera feed, images, or body-pose data. This data helps us fix bugs and improve reliability.
8. In-App Purchases
Premium subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed entirely by Apple via StoreKit. LynxApps never sees or stores your payment details. Purchases restore across your devices through your Apple Account, and subscriptions are managed in your Apple Account settings.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
Your data exists only on your device and in your private iCloud:
- Delete individual wake-ups or history entries in the app at any time
- Delete the app from your iPhone to remove all locally stored UpRep data
- Disable iCloud sync or manage UpRep's iCloud data from your device's iCloud settings
10. Security
UpRep relies on iOS's built-in security model:
- Local data is stored in the app sandbox, encrypted at rest by iOS data protection
- Camera frames are never written to disk or transmitted
- iCloud data is protected by your Apple Account and Apple's CloudKit security
11. Children's Privacy
UpRep is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
12. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Because UpRep stores your personal data locally and in your own iCloud:
- Access: All your data is visible within the app at any time
- Deletion: Delete records in-app or delete the app entirely
- No data sale: We do not sell personal data
- Opt-out: Decline ATT to limit ad tracking, and disable notifications any time in iOS Settings
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
