1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, and using Vow - Commitment Tracker ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Vow ("Company," "we," "us," "our") regarding your use of the App.
2. Use License
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms and all applicable laws.
You agree NOT to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the App's source code
- Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works based on the App
- Rent, lease, lend, or sell access to the App
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels
- Use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
- Transmit viruses, malware, or any code of destructive nature
- Interfere with or disrupt the functionality of the App or its servers
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the App
- Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation
3. Account & Data
3.1 Account Responsibility
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of any account information
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access
3.2 Your Data
- All commitment data, check-in records, and personal information you enter is owned by you
- You grant us a limited license to use your data to provide and improve the App
- You can delete all your data anytime via Settings → Data → Delete All Data
- Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone
3.3 Data Backup
You acknowledge that:
- We are not responsible for backup or recovery of deleted data
- You should regularly export your data (CSV/PDF) if you want a backup
- Using CloudKit sync provides additional redundancy, but you are responsible for enabling it
- Device backups via iCloud may include App data — consult Apple's documentation
4. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
4.1 Premium Subscription
- Monthly: $1.99/month (auto-renewable)
- Annual: $14.99/year (auto-renewable)
- Lifetime: $29.99 (one-time purchase)
- Family Sharing: Premium unlocked for up to 6 family members
4.2 Purchase Terms
- Payments are processed by Apple via StoreKit 2
- We do NOT charge your payment method directly — Apple handles all billing
- Your payment information is never stored or accessible by Vow
- Subscription auto-renews unless you cancel in App Store settings
4.3 Cancellation & Refunds
- You can cancel anytime in App Store settings (Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Vow)
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period
- Refunds are handled by Apple per their policies — contact Apple Support for refund requests
- We do NOT issue refunds directly; Apple manages all billing disputes
4.4 Free Trial
- If a free trial is offered, it applies only to new premium subscribers
- Cancelling during free trial prevents automatic billing
- If you don't cancel before the trial ends, billing begins automatically
4.5 Price Changes
- We may change subscription prices with 30 days' notice
- Current subscribers are not affected until renewal
- You will be notified of price changes via email
5. Intellectual Property Rights
5.1 App Ownership
- The App, including all code, design, graphics, and features, is owned by Vow
- You receive a license to use, not ownership of, the App
- All rights not explicitly granted are reserved by Vow
5.2 Your Content
- You own all commitment data, check-in records, and notes you create
- By using the App, you grant Vow a license to:
- Store and process your data on your device and CloudKit (if enabled)
- Use anonymized, aggregated data for analytics and improvement
- Use your feedback to improve features
5.3 Trademarks
- "Vow" and associated logos are trademarks of Vow
- You may not use our trademarks without written permission
6. Third-Party Services & Content
6.1 External Links & Services
The App integrates with:
- Apple CloudKit (data sync)
- Apple StoreKit (payments)
- Apple EventKit (calendar)
- Firebase (analytics & crash reporting)
- Apple WatchConnectivity (watch sync)
- Apple UserNotifications (reminders)
We are NOT responsible for:
- Third-party service outages or changes
- Data loss due to third-party service failures
- Privacy practices of third-party services
6.2 Third-Party Disclaimers
- Apple Inc. is not responsible for the App and provides services "as-is"
- Google Firebase services are provided under Google's terms
- Calendar and Watch features depend on Apple's services
7. Limitation of Liability
7.1 Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS-IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY.
We do NOT warrant that:
- The App will be error-free or uninterrupted
- All features will work on all devices
- Cloud sync will always succeed
- Notifications will always be delivered
7.2 Limitation of Damages
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VOW SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST DATA, LOST REVENUE, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR DAMAGE TO DEVICES — EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for premium features (if any).
7.3 Essential Terms
Some jurisdictions do not allow limiting liability for certain damages. To the extent prohibited by law, the above limitations do not apply.
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Vow, its employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or costs arising from:
- Your use of the App in violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any applicable law
- Your infringement of any third-party rights
- Your commitment data or information shared with partners
9. Termination
9.1 Termination by You
You can stop using the App anytime by:
- Deleting the App from your device
- Deleting all your data via Settings → Data → Delete All Data
- Cancelling your subscription in App Store settings
9.2 Termination by Us
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App if you:
- Violate these Terms or applicable laws
- Engage in illegal activity
- Attempt to hack or damage the App
- Use the App for unauthorized purposes
Termination does not affect your data — you can export it before deletion.
10. Privacy & Data Protection

- By using the App, you consent to our data practices as outlined in the Privacy Policy
- We comply with GDPR, CCPA, and applicable data protection laws
11. User-Generated Content & Partner Features
11.1 Accountability Partner System
- Partner invitations are sent via unique codes (VOW-XXXXXX)
- Partners can see: your profile name, streaks, and shared challenges
- Partners cannot see: your full commitment history, detailed check-ins, or personal notes
- Connecting with a partner is voluntary — disconnect anytime
- Disconnecting removes you from their partner list
11.2 Shared Challenges
- You and your partner can create head-to-head challenges
- Challenges are time-limited and visible only to both of you
- Results are based on check-in counts — not verification of actual activity
- You acknowledge that challenge results depend on self-reporting
11.3 Streak Sharing
- You can share streak cards via social media
- Cards contain: commitment name, current streak, and Vow branding
- Shared content is permanent once posted to social networks
- We are not responsible for how others use shared content
12. Disclaimer of Professional Advice
The App is a productivity and habit-tracking tool, NOT medical advice, mental health treatment, nutritional guidance, fitness guidance, or legal/financial advice. If you have health concerns, consult a qualified healthcare provider.
We make no claims that using Vow will improve your health, cure any condition, guarantee habit formation, or prevent any disease.
13. Modifications to the App & Terms
13.1 Changes to the App
We may add, remove, or modify features, change functionality, update pricing, or discontinue the App with reasonable notice.
13.2 Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms anytime. We will notify you via in-app notification, updated date at the top of these Terms, or email notification. Your continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.
14. Availability & Support
- The App relies on internet connectivity (for CloudKit sync, notifications, analytics)
- We do not guarantee 100% uptime or service availability

15. Export & Data Portability
You can export your data anytime (premium feature) in CSV format (all check-in history) or PDF format (annual report with statistics). Data is yours to keep, use, or share as you wish.
16. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
- These Terms are governed by applicable laws
- Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration or small claims court
- Class action lawsuits are waived — disputes are individual only
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
18. Entire Agreement
These Terms, combined with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Vow regarding your use of the App.
