Your tank data never leaves your device. ReefDose for Android stores your water parameters, dosing records, tasks, livestock, journal entries, and expenses only on your phone. We do not operate a server that receives this information.
1. Who We Are
LynxApps ("we," "us," "our") develops ReefDose for Android ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains what data the App handles and how.
2. Data Stored on Your Device
Everything you enter, including tank profiles, water test readings, dosing products and logs, scheduled tasks, livestock records, journal entries, expenses, and equipment, is stored in the App's private storage on your device. This data is not uploaded to us or to any third party. No account, sign-in, or registration is required.
ReefDose’s AI Tank Review runs entirely on your device, using Google’s on-device model (Gemini Nano). Your tank data is never sent anywhere for this. Optional tips and check-in reminders are local notifications: they send nothing and collect nothing.
3. Analytics and Crash Reporting
The App uses Firebase (by Google) in release builds for two purposes:
- Firebase Analytics: A small set of anonymous usage events, such as "tank created," "parameter logged," "dose logged," "task completed," "livestock added," and "onboarding completed." Events include only the following details: the tank type, the parameter kind, whether a reading was in range, the dosing product name, the task kind, the livestock category, and whether you have Pro and a tank. Events never include water test values, tank names, notes, photos, journal text, or any other free-form content you write.
- Firebase Crashlytics: If the App crashes, a report containing your device model, Android version, App version, and a stack trace is sent. Reports are linked to a random anonymous install identifier, not to your name or email address. No tank data is included.
The anonymous install identifier is created the first time you open the App. It is not linked to a Google account. Firebase data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
4. Advertising
ReefDose for Android contains no advertising. We do not use any advertising SDK and do not access your advertising ID.
5. In-App Purchases
Pro subscriptions and the Lifetime purchase are processed by Google Play Billing. LynxApps never sees or stores your payment details. Google Play tells the App whether you have an active purchase so Pro features can be unlocked.
6. Exporting and Importing Data
You can export your data as CSV or PDF files. These files are created on your device, and they are shared only when you choose to share them through Android's share sheet. You can also import test results from files or pasted text that you select. Nothing is sent to us during import or export.
7. Android Backup
The App allows Android's automatic backup to include its data. If you have Google's backup turned on for your device, your ReefDose data may be included in your Google account backup, which is governed by Google's policies and your device backup settings. You can turn off device backup in Android Settings.
8. App Permissions
- Internet: Used for Firebase analytics and crash reports, and for Google Play Billing. The App works fully offline otherwise.
- Notifications: Optional. Used to send task and parameter-test reminders. You control this in Android Settings.
- Exact alarms: Used to deliver reminders at the time you set. You can manage this in Android Settings.
- Start on boot: Used to restore your reminders after your phone restarts.
The App does not currently use your camera or photo library.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. To delete it:
- Delete individual records inside the App.
- Clear the App's storage in Android Settings → Apps → ReefDose → Storage → Clear storage. This erases all local data.
- Uninstall the App to remove all local App data from your device.
Analytics and crash reports held by Firebase are handled under Google's retention policies. We cannot delete them for you because they are not linked to your identity.
10. Security
The App uses Android's app sandbox, which keeps its data private to the App. We recommend keeping your device locked with a PIN, password, or biometric lock.
11. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA / Other)
- Access: All your data is on your device and visible within the App at any time.
- Deletion: Delete records in the App, clear App storage, or uninstall the App.
- No data sale: We do not sell personal data.
- Analytics: You can limit analytics and crash reporting through your Google account and device settings.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App changes, for example if we add new analytics events. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
