What is ChatTale?+

ChatTale turns your chats into a Spotify-Wrapped-style story you'll actually want to share. Import a conversation and ChatTale instantly builds a full-screen deck of beautiful cards - your message count, your rhythms, your running jokes in emoji - plus a clean stats dashboard.

It works for one-on-one chats and group chats alike, and everything happens locally on your iPhone or iPad. Your conversations never leave your device.

Which chats can I import?+

WhatsApp text exports work best - they give the richest results. You can also import screenshots of a chat, and ChatTale will read them on-device with text recognition.

To export a WhatsApp conversation:

  1. Open the chat in WhatsApp
  2. Tap the contact or group name at the top
  3. Scroll down and tap Export Chat
  4. Choose Without Media for the fastest, cleanest import
  5. Share the exported .txt file into ChatTale
Do my messages get uploaded?+

No. Analysis happens entirely on your device, and your conversations are never sent anywhere. When ChatTale saves a story, it stores only the derived results - the numbers and cards - never your raw messages.

Does it work for group chats?+

Yes. ChatTale ranks the group, spotlights who carried the conversation, and hands out playful roles - so the whole squad gets a story, not just a stat sheet.

Do I need an account?+

No account is needed to analyze a chat and make your ChatTale. There's nothing to sign up for.

How does the AI polish work?+

On supported devices, ChatTale can phrase your highlights in a friendlier voice using Apple's on-device intelligence - and it only ever rephrases facts the app already verified. It never leaves the device. On every other device, you get the same insights, worded by the app.

Prices are set in App Store Connect and shown in your local currency at purchase. Free trials, where offered, convert automatically unless cancelled before the trial ends.

Can I get a refund or manage my subscription?+

Subscriptions are managed through your Apple Account in Settings, per Apple's standard terms.

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone
  2. Tap [Your Name] at the top
  3. Tap Subscriptions
  4. Find ChatTale and tap it to change or cancel your plan

Refunds are handled by Apple - request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

What iOS version is required?+

ChatTale is designed for iPhone and iPad on a recent version of iOS and iPadOS. Optional AI polish requires a device that supports Apple's on-device intelligence; every other feature works without it.

Troubleshooting

My import isn't reading correctly

  1. For the richest results, use a WhatsApp text export rather than screenshots
  2. When exporting from WhatsApp, choose Without Media for a cleaner file
  3. Make sure you're sharing the exported .txt file into ChatTale
  4. For screenshots, ensure the text is sharp, well-lit, and not cropped mid-message

Screenshots aren't being read

  1. Use full, uncropped screenshots so each message stays intact
  2. Avoid heavy compression - share the original images where possible
  3. Bright, high-contrast screenshots read best on-device
  4. If a screenshot still won't read, a WhatsApp text export always gives the best results

App is slow or crashing

  1. Force-close the app (swipe up from the bottom and swipe away ChatTale)
  2. Restart your iPhone or iPad
  3. Check for an app update in the App Store
  4. If crashes persist, email us - crash reports help us fix issues fast
