Your Zakat data is private. Zakat Book stores everything — years, assets, payments, and recipients — locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store your financial data on any server.
1. Data We Don't Collect
Zakat Book does not:
- Transmit your Zakat years, asset values, or payment history to any server
- Create or require user accounts
- Sell or share your personal or financial information with third parties
- Access your contacts beyond optional import you explicitly initiate
- Store your data outside your device or your personal iCloud account
2. Data Stored on Your Device
All data lives in SwiftData on your device:
- Zakat years: Hawl dates, nisab standard, metal prices, year status, and notes you enter
- Assets: Category, value, weight (for metals), and description — stored locally only
- Payments: Amount, date, recipient name, payment method, notes, and any receipt photo you attach
- Recipients: Saved recipient names and categories you add for reuse
- People: Names and relationships for multi-person Zakat tracking
- Settings: Language preference, currency, nisab standard, and notification preferences
3. iCloud Sync (Premium)
Premium subscribers may enable iCloud sync. When enabled, your Zakat data syncs via CloudKit to your personal iCloud account — the same account you use for all Apple services. LynxApps never has access to your iCloud data. iCloud sync is optional and off by default; you can disable it at any time in Settings.
4. App Permissions
Zakat Book may request the following permissions:
- Notifications: To deliver Zakat reminders at dates you configure. You control this in iOS Settings.
- Camera & Photos: To attach receipt photos to payment records. Photos are stored in your app's local sandbox and never uploaded.
- Contacts (optional): To import a contact name when adding a recipient. Contact data is used in-app only and never transmitted.
- App Tracking Transparency (ATT): Required by Apple if we serve ads. Declining ATT means you may see less relevant ads; it does not affect any app functionality. Ad revenue helps keep the free tier available.
- Face ID / Touch ID: Used for app lock only. Biometric data never leaves your device.
5. Advertising (Free Tier)
The free tier displays banner ads via Google AdMob. Ads appear only on the Home Dashboard — never on financial data screens. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to serve ads if you grant ATT permission. Google's data use is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Premium subscribers see no ads.
6. Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics
Zakat Book uses Firebase (by Google) for two purposes:
- Analytics: Anonymised, aggregated event data (e.g. which features are used, app open counts). No asset values, payment amounts, names, or other personal financial data is ever included in analytics events.
- Crashlytics: If the app crashes, a report is sent containing device model, iOS version, and a stack trace. No personal data or financial information is included.
Firebase data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of analytics collection in Settings → Privacy.
7. In-App Purchases
Premium subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple via StoreKit 2. LynxApps never sees or stores your payment details. Purchase receipt validation happens on-device.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
Your data exists only on your device (and your personal iCloud if sync is enabled). To delete it:
- Delete individual Zakat years, assets, payments, or recipients from within the app at any time
- Delete the app from your iPhone to permanently remove all Zakat Book data from your device
- To remove iCloud data, disable iCloud sync in Settings and delete the app — iCloud data can also be managed via iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage
9. Security
Zakat Book relies on iOS's built-in security model:
- SwiftData databases are stored in the app sandbox, protected by iOS data protection (encrypted at rest)
- Optional Face ID / Touch ID app lock adds a biometric gate before the app opens
- No financial data is transmitted over the network except anonymised analytics events described above
10. Children's Privacy
Zakat Book is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will assist with data removal.
11. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA / LGPD)
Because Zakat Book stores all personal data locally on your device:
- Access & portability: All data is on your device; export via PDF or CSV at any time
- Deletion: Delete individual records in-app or delete the app entirely
- Correction: Edit any record at any time
- Analytics opt-out: Disable Firebase analytics in Settings → Privacy
- No data sale: We do not sell personal data
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
